This report reviews the findings and recommendations of the United States Congress Speaker's Task Force on Homelessness, which was organized in early 1993 at the request of President Clinton. The report includes the Task Force's mission statement that mandates the development of policies and/or programs that reduce homelessness through better intervention and prevention. Also included is a review of recent demographic trends in the United States as they relate to homelessness, especially in terms of the allocation of national resources. Some of the Task Force recommendations include: improve and increase access to affordable housing; ensure economic security; provide necessary services to prevent homelessness; and change the national approach to homelessness.
