Teach kids to play, it will help them cope. Teach parents to recognize the importance of playing. Play is an intervention. Teach parents to play with their kids.
We know today that children’s well-being does not depend only on genetics or their interactions with their parents, but also on their physical environments. And what could be more central to a child’s environment than her home: the place where she eats, sleeps, and plays every day? Housing conditions affect all children, regardless of whether the home is rented or owned. This paper outlines the ways that children’s home environments can affect three primary areas of their well-being. These three areas include:

• Physical health,
• Social and emotional functioning, and
• Cognitive development.
