The exploratory thesis addresses the issue of powerlessness that is a common theme in the literature of homelessness. Specifically, the study is concerned with the power status of homeless women in Calgary and Edmonton, and whether that status places them at risk for development of learned helplessness as conceptualized by Martin Seligman et. al.
