This article addresses the complex and challenging issues of providing an appropriate educational opportunity to homeless children and youth. Concomitant with the contemporary growth in homelessness in American society, educational programs designed to accommodate homeless children and youth have been developed in recent years. A discussion of emerging educational service delivery systems for homeless children and youth, with a particular emphasis on policy implications for overcoming the barriers to their education, is provided.
