HIV/AIDS Awareness Event: Old School New School Car Show

A community health awareness project using non-traditional settings in the form of a car show and concert, “The Old School New School Car Show” (OSNSCS) is intended to build HIV/AIDS awareness within the local communities. The goal of OSNSCS is to welcome members of the community to this event, educate them about the HIV/AIDS pandemic while enjoying the show and leave with a better understanding of what HIV/AIDS is and how to properly protect themselves when needed.

Free Audio Training: Protecting Homeless and Transitional Students' Education Rights

During this audio training, the National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty (NLCHP) will share information on the McKinney-Vento Act, which allows homeless and transitional students to stay enrolled in schools even as their home situation changes. NLCHP will also discuss applicability of the law to early childhood (HeadStart) and special education (IDEA), as well as implications for higher education.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, in partnership with New Century Institute and the Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association, is pleased to host The 3rd National Conference on Women, Addiction and Recovery: Inspiring Leadership, Changing Lives. This years conference will focus on developing the capacity for improving outcomes for women and their families who are affected by substance use disorders. An important measure of the success of the 2008 conference will be the extent to which participants receive information that they can use and share with professional colleagues.
